A bit about Sally Woods

I hold a Degree in Integrative Counselling, an approach informed by a range of theoretical perspectives including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, and Person-Centred models. This allows me to tailor my approach to each individual, recognising that every person’s experience and journey are unique.

In addition, I hold a Diploma in Gestalt Counselling, which integrates a variety of creative techniques to help clients explore, process, and make sense of their thoughts and emotions.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship between client and counsellor is central to the healing process. Building a safe, trusting, and compassionate connection enables you to explore challenges and work towards meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.

My Approach I often incorporate creative interventions within my sessions, using symbols and metaphor to support emotional expression. For clients who may find it difficult to put their feelings into words, these creative tools can provide an alternative and powerful means of communication and understanding.

Experience My professional experience spans a range of therapeutic and wellbeing settings. I have worked within the NHS and currently work in hospice care, supporting clients in managing their emotional wellbeing through both counselling and complementary therapies.

I have designed and facilitated wellbeing workshops to help individuals manage stress, anxiety, and depression—giving me extensive experience supporting those who are distressed, facing life-limiting illness, or coping with bereavement.

In my private counselling practice, I have supported clients dealing with:

• Childhood trauma

• Depression and anxiety

• Relationship difficulties

• Bereavement and loss

• Trauma and emotional distress

I also have experience working with neurodivergent clients, including those with Autism and ADHD, providing a sensitive and understanding environment tailored to individual needs.

Appointments I offer counselling sessions both online and face-to-face. My practice is based in Highcliffe, where I provide a comfortable, confidential, and welcoming space.

Each appointment lasts 50 minutes, and we can meet weekly or fortnightly, depending on what best suits your needs.

Reaching out for counselling can feel daunting, and finding a counsellor you feel comfortable with is an important part of the process. To help you decide if I’m the right fit for you, I offer a free 10-minute, no-obligation telephone consultation.
