Meet Janet King
I am one of the founders of New Horizons Network and I specialise in counselling, coaching, psychotherapy, sex and relationship therapy, EMDR therapy, training, workshops and supervision.
As a counsellor, supervisor and trainer with over 20 years of experience I have been privileged to have worked with many courageous people from all walks of life, cultures and backgrounds. I have worked with adults, children, young people and couples who have faced difficulties in their lives and with their relationships. With the help of counselling they have been able to explore what’s troubling them, discover where their beliefs have come from, gain more control and a better understanding of themselves. This has then enabled the possibility of change from often repeating patterns of the past.
I offer an environment that is supportive, warm, confidential and free from judgement. I create a space in which you will be able to explore areas of your life that you may wish to understand, improve on or make changes to. Whether the difficulties are current or unresolved from the past, together we will work at your pace to make life better. I work in an integrative way which means I draw on a number of theories to help you make sense of things.
If you would like to book an appointment or call for an informal chat about your needs with, then please don’t hesitate to call or send a message on the contact form and I will get back to you within 24 hours.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
An accredited member of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapy (COSRT)and a member of the National Council of Psychotherapists (NCP) and abide by their Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. This means amongst other things, that I attend regular professional supervision, I am fully insured and I am committed to continuing professional development.
I have a wealth of experience working with a diverse client group within the statutory, charitable and criminal justice system. For a number of years I ran a specialist counselling service for young people and adolescents. I have also worked within the addictions field as a counsellor and group facilitator for a drug and alcohol treatment centre.
For many years I have specialised in sexual abuse working with survivors and also in my previous employment with the NSPCC working with those who perpetrate sexual abuse and their families. I also have experience of working with those for whom sex and internet pornography has become problematic.
Take charge of your life and transform your relationships today.
