A bit about Dan Gadd
This therapist is located in the Southbourne area for any in person sessions.
Hi I’m Dan a BACP registered Counsellor working with compassion and acceptance-based approaches for a range of issues. My approach is informed by a decade long interest in Psychology, first completing my BSc in Psychology and then training as an Integrative Counsellor whilst working as an Information Analyst within the National Health Service.
I aim to strike a balance between practical solutions to help you manage symptoms in the moment, whilst also being curious about ‘Why’ certain feelings could be showing up in your unique circumstance. This can involve reflecting on you truly feel about what’s happening in your life and coming to terms with any underlying feelings you may have ‘pushed aside’, perhaps because it’s felt safer to do so.
Our nervous systems are constantly talking to us, giving us signals about perceived safety and danger. Just as we might find ourselves feeling relaxed after a holiday, we can equally find ourselves feeling overwhelmed and anxious when we can’t see a clear way through our situation. One choice that we always have, is how we relate to ourselves, and the dialogue we tell ourselves about our experience. Making sense of our experience can be the first step to finding a way through challenging times and I’m here to help you do that.
My practice isn’t about wallowing in the past or living for the future. It’s about providing a non-judgemental space that feels safe for you to explore what’s going on for you. I’m not here to tell you what you ‘should’ think or do about any given situation. I’ll encourage you to reconnect with yourself, extend yourself some grace, and work with your feelings compassionately so you can make informed choices about what to do next.
I’m happy to work together in a way that suits you, whether that is Online, face to face or a mix of both.
